How GovSpend Acquires its Data

The value of GovSpend is in our searchable database. This means that we need to be constantly uploading new and current purchase orders from government agencies. That way when you initiate a search you can find exactly what you're looking for.
So in an effort to address this, we have worked hard to find a diligent team dedicated to data acquisition. They spend the time reaching out to agencies and gathering the information which then gets sent over to our Data Engineers so they can add it to our searchable database.
How are we able to get this information? The Freedom of Information Act or FOIA. FOIA generally provides that any person has the right to request access to federal agency records or information except to the extent the records are protected from disclosure by any of nine exemptions contained in the law or by one of three special law enforcement records exclusions.
